Attention Windows 8 users - special instructions

I purchased this product and was disappointed that it wouldn't run in Windows 8, even though Amazon has it listed as compatible. So I sent an email to the software maker's customer support (support@core-learning.com). They responded quickly...like within 10 minutes. They said they're having problems with activation in Win 8 and sent me a link to a download that doesn't require activation. The program runs beautifully now.

As for the software itself, I've played around with it a little bit. I'm an adult user and installed it for my nephews and nieces. The program has a lot of features that I would use and it is much more straight-forward than the other programs I use (Corel PaintShop Pro X5 mostly). That's to be expected, since it's designed for kids. But I was also surprised by how many features it has and how easy it is to switch between drawing utensils. I am definitely no professional so maybe I'm easily pleased, but it really is a good drawing program. As for my nephews and nieces, we'll see how easy it is for them to use. I will imagine they'll need a little tutorial and then should be okay on their own. But it looks like the program is straight-forward enough for them to use the basics.

I highly recommend this software, especially at this price.

Great art program for elementary children

We had tried other programs, but their complexity took away the fun factor, Crayola Creative Studio put the fun factor back in!
The kids really like the familiar "feel" of selecting markers and crayons that look just like their real physical ones, and they think that it is really neat to see how the tools(markers crayons etc) in the program work like "real ones". (IE, even children notice that texture, and colors blend and have different opacities depending on the tool, crayons are quite opaque, while markers are quite transparent etc.)
This software provides them greater creative flexiblity with the fun of being able to undo mistakes.
I purchased this when my elementary age children started to play with "Paint" (the very basic built in program on windows computers).
I had given them another program some time ago, but it was too complex so they didn't use it much, now the children ask can I go play with Crayola on my computer? I'm finding one of my kids nearly as excited about Crayola Creative Studio as the games they play.
(Tech note, the program installed easily on both of the children's computers with no problems, and was ready to run in a few minutes)

Didn't work

I couldn't get the product to download without a error. Got my money back. Too bad....looked like it would be fun for the kids.
